The grades with (H) after the common steel material number include 12Cr1MoR (H), 12Cr2MoR (H), 14Cr1MoR (H) and 15CrMoR (H), in which (H) means hydrogen (abbreviated as HTHA), which is mainly used in medium and high temperature environments such as hydrogenation reactors.
The common steel types with HIC properties after the common steel material number are SA516gr60 (HIC), SA516gr65 (HIC), SA516Gr70 (HIC), Q345R (HIC), Q245R (HIC) and 16MnDR (HIC). HIC refers to hydrogen cracking resistance, which is mainly used in low-temperature wet hydrogen sulfide environment.
Some also require sulfide stress corrosion resistance, marked as (R-HIC). R-HIC steel needs SSCC test and HIC test, while HIC steel only needs HIC test.
