Q355 steel is a common low alloy high strength steel with yield strength of 355MPa. According to the new standard "low alloy high strength structural steel GB/T1591-2018", starting from February 1, 2019, Q345 steel grade will be cancelled and changed to Q355, corresponding to S355 steel grade of European standard.
Q355 steel is a substitute for the old 12MnV, 14MnNb, 18Nb, 16MnRE, 16Mn and other steels, rather than just a substitute for 16Mn steel. The proportion of main elements in Q355 steel is basically the same as that in 16Mn steel. The difference is that V, Ti and Nb microalloying elements are added to Q355 steel.
Because Q355 steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties, acceptable low temperature properties, good plasticity and weldability, it can be used for medium and low pressure vessels, oil tanks, vehicles, cranes, mining machinery, power stations, bridges and other structures, mechanical parts, building structures, general metal structures under dynamic load, hot rolling or normalizing state, and can be used for various structures in cold areas below - 40℃.
