Incoloy825 alloy steel is suitable for extremely corrosive environments. The nickel content is sufficient to resist chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Nickel, together with molybdenum and copper are resistant to reducing acids, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid solutions and sea water. Molybdenum also helps to resist pitting and crevice corrosion; due to the high chromium content, it is resistant to many oxidizing substances such as nitric acid, nitrates, oxide salts; with proper heat treatment, titanium can stabilize the alloy and prevent sensitization of intergranular corrosion.
Applications of Incoloy825 nickel base corrosion resistant alloy steel (UNS N08825): Phosphoric acid evaporators, pickling tank heaters, hooks and equipment, drive shafts and tank trucks.
