The US Department of Commerce recently announced the final decision on the accelerated sunset review of anti-dumping and countervailing duties on South Korean stainless steel coils. If the submitted sunset review application materials are insufficient, the accelerated sunset review is applicable. The US Department of Commerce announced that the anti-dumping duty rate would remain unchanged, on the grounds that if anti-dumping measures were lifted against stainless steel coils from South Korea, Japan and Taiwan (China), dumping might continue or recur.
In addition, the U.S. Department of Commerce said that if the countervailing tax measures on South Korean stainless steel coils are withdrawn, the offset subsidies may continue or recur, so the countervailing tax will continue to be levied.
Previously, on September 1, 2022, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that it would launch the fourth anti-dumping sunset review investigation on stainless steel sheet and strip imported from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan (China), and the fourth countervailing sunset review investigation on stainless steel sheet and strip imported from South Korea.
