Global crude steel production in March 2020

In March 2020, the crude steel output of 64 countries included in the World Steel Association's statistics was 147.1 million tons, down 6.0% year on year. As the impact of the new crown pandemic on economic and social activities continues, many production data of this month are from the estimates of various countries and regional associations, and we may revise the data in the next month's production report.

In the first quarter of 2020, global crude steel production was 443 million tons, down 1.4% year on year. In the first quarter, crude steel production in Asia was 315.2 million tons, down 0.3% year on year. Crude steel production in the EU region in the first quarter was 38.3 million tons, down 10.0% year on year. Crude steel production in North America in the first quarter was 29.5 million tons, down 4.0% year on year.

In March 2020, China's crude steel output was 79 million tons, down 1.7% year on year; India's crude steel output was 8.7 million tons, down 13.9% year on year; Japan's crude steel output was 8.2 million tons, down 9.7% year on year; South Korea's crude steel output was 5.8 million tons, down 7.9% year on year.
