Chinese Steel Enterprises Promote the Development of Iron and Steel Industrialization in Uganda

In recent years, the Ugandan government has implemented a series of measures to promote the development of the iron and steel industry.

However, up to now, Uganda's iron and steel industry is still in its infancy. There are only a few small and medium-sized EAF steelmaking enterprises in domestic. The shortage of scrap materials, backward technology and lack of necessary skills training for employees seriously restrict Uganda's iron and steel production efficiency, productivity utilization, steel product diversity and long-term development of steel enterprises. Because steel product quality is not strictly controlled, the steel products produced by Ugandan steel enterprises can not fully meet the requirements of local infrastructure construction.

To help build infrastructure in Uganda and promote the development of its steel industry, China has continuously provided financial support for it. Some Chinese steel enterprises have been actively carrying out international production capacity cooperation in Uganda to invest and build factories on the basis of the "east side" initiative.

In recently years, BBN steel has also exported large quantity of steel materials to Uganda. Among them, the mild steel including S235JR steel, SS400 steel, and the LPG steel, including SG255 steel, SG295 steel etc. steel products account for important portion.
