Britain makes final decision on Safeguard Measures for imported steel products

On May 21, 2021, the WTO Committee on safeguards issued a notification on safeguards submitted to it by the British delegation. The Trade Remedy Investigation Bureau (trid) of the Department of International Trade of the United Kingdom made a final decision on the safeguard measures for imported steel products, and suggested that the Secretary of state for international trade should implement the safeguard measures in the form of quota for the products involved for a period of three years from July 1, 2021, and the quota should be issued quarterly with an annual increase of 3%, a 25% tariff will be imposed on the products involved that exceed the quota. The implementation of the measures is subject to the decision of the British Minister of international trade.
