What is the difference between A709-50F-2 and A709-50T-2 steel plate

A709-50F-2 steel plate and A709-50T-2 steel plate thickness range: 8-100mm

A709-50F-2 and A709-50T-2 steel plate impact test and service temperature range:

F-2: It means that when the steel plate is used for the critical fracture tensile member, the standard stipulates that when the impact test is performed below 4℃, the impact energy must be≥34J;

T-2: It means that when the steel plate is used for non-critical fracture tensile members, the standard stipulates that when the impact test is performed below 4℃, the impact energy must be ≥ 20J;

A709-50F-2, A709-50T-2 steel plate chemical composition, melting analysis:

For all steel plates with a thickness of >10mm, the minimum manganese content should be 0.80% during smelting analysis and 0.75% during product analysis;

For all steel plates with a thickness of ≤10mm and all other products, the minimum manganese content should be 0.50% for smelting analysis and 0.45% for product analysis;

The ratio between manganese and carbon should not be less than 2:1. For every 0.01% decrease in the upper limit of the standard, the upper limit of manganese is allowed to increase by 0.06%, but the maximum should not exceed 1.60%.
