What is 1.2311 steel plate

1.2311 steel plate belongs to German die steel plate. Die steel plate is mainly used to manufacture cold stamping die, hot forging, die pressing, casting mold and other molds. This kind of steel plate is produced using a unique ultra-pure process, with a high degree of micro purity and excellent homogeneous structure, and a very high appearance cleanliness. Nitriding treatment can improve the surface hardness of steel plate. After treatment, the surface hardness can reach 650-700 Vickers hardness. In order to improve the service life of the steel plate, the quenching and tempering heat treatment process is often used. During quenching, the steel plate is preheated at 500-600℃ for 2-4 hours, and then kept at 850-880℃ for a certain time (at least 2 hours). It is cooled in oil to 50-100℃ for oil and air cooling. After quenching, the hardness can reach 50-52 HRC. In order to prevent cracking, the steel plate should be immediately tempered at 200℃ at low temperature. After tempering, the hardness can be maintained above 48 HRC.

1.2311 steel plate has the following characteristics: good machining performance, uniform hardness, good polishing performance, suitable for surface treatment, and can be nitrided.

Due to patent and smelting process reasons, P20 steel plate can not replace 1.2311 so far. In the future, when the patent expires or the technology is updated, P20 steel plate is completely expected to replace 1.2311 steel plate.
