The use of Corten A weatherproof steel is still faced with some problems

Corten A is a well known weather resistant steel. The top layer of the Corten A weatherproof steel material reacts with atmospheric elements, and form a rust coloured protective layer, which not only make the steel virtually maintenance free but also provide a pleasing and consistent finish.

However, just like other weather resistant steel, Corten A weatherproof steel also face some common problems during use.

1. Corrosion of welding points: the oxidation rate of welding points must be the same as other materials, which requires special welding materials and technology.

2. Water Corrosion: Corten A weathering steel is not stainless steel. If there is water in the concave position of Corten A weatherproof steel, the corrosion rate of the Corten A steel will be quicker, so drainage must be done.

3. Salt -rich air environment: Corten A weatherproof steel is more sensitive to the salt - rich air environment. In such an environment, the surface protective film may not prevent further internal oxidation.

4. Fade: the rust layer on the Corten A weatherproof steel surface makes the surface of the objects near it rust.
