Type selection of large storage tank foundation

The selection of tank foundation should be based on the tank form, volume, geological conditions, material supply, user requirements and construction technical conditions, foundation treatment methods and economic rationality. The general practice of large vertical tank foundation is to make a layer of asphalt sand insulation layer under the bottom plate of the storage tank, which is used to block the corrosion of underground moisture to the bottom plate of the tank. A layer of sand cushion is made under the asphalt sand cushion to adjust the stress state of the bottom plate of the tank, and the compacted filling layer is under it.

There are basically two types of tank foundation
1. Ring wall foundation
When the local foundation soil is soft and does not meet the requirements of bearing capacity, the calculated settlement and settlement difference are not within the allowable range, or the foundation soil has liquefaction under earthquake action, ring wall foundation should be used. This kind of foundation is to shoot the reinforced concrete ring wall under the wall plate of the storage tank, and use the ring wall to transmit the pressure from the tank to the foundation.

2. Slope protection foundation
When the local foundation soil can meet the requirements of bearing capacity design value and settlement difference, and the tank construction site is not limited, the slope protection foundation can be used. Slope protection foundation is generally used for hard and medium hard soil, and is mostly used for fixed roof tank.
