The export volume of EU S690QL material decreased in the first quarter

In the first quarter of 2020, the total volume of EU S690QL material and so on steel exports to third countries decreased by 9% year on year. In the first four months of 2020, due to a 15% year-on-year decrease in flat long products exports and a 13% year-on-year decrease in long products exports. Over the same period, the export volume of EU finished steel products decreased by 15% year on year.

From the perspective of export destinations, the main destinations of EU S690QL material and so on steel exports in 2019 are Turkey, Switzerland and the United States, followed by China and Egypt, which has changed compared with the main export destination pattern in early 2019. In April 2020, the EU's finished steel exports to the above five countries accounted for 42% of the total EU finished steel exports.

In the first four months of 2020, EU's finished steel exports to Egypt and China increased by 7% and 3% respectively year-on-year. In contrast, exports of S690QL material and so on steel to the United States fell 43% year-on-year. Over the same period, exports of S690QL material and so on steel to Switzerland and Turkey declined by a relatively small margin by 10%, while exports to Russia increased by only 1%.
