The C element of AISI 1030 special steel promotes the formation of austenite during heating and makes the steel obtain high hardness after heat treatment. AISI 1030 special steel C forms carbide with Cr, Mo and other elements to improve the hardness and tensile strength of the steel, reduce the yield strength ratio of the steel, improve the heat resistance and wear resistance of the steel, and facilitate the formation of surface carburized layer. However, too much C will form large particle carbides and reduce the fracture toughness of the steel.
