Grade 431 stainless steel (UNS S43100) is a martensitic alloy containing 15% -17% chromium (Cr) and 1.25% -2.5% nickel (Ni). The carbon content is strictly limited to ≤0.20%. Through quenching and tempering processes, it can achieve a hardness of 58-60HRC and a tensile strength of over 1080MPa, while maintaining 10% elongation and 39J impact toughness. Its corrosion resistance is superior to 420 series stainless steel in marine atmosphere and weak acid-base environment, and it is suitable for high load scenarios such as aviation fasteners, chemical valves, and ship shock absorbers.
The physical properties of 431 stainless steel material include a density of 7.7g/cm³ and magnetic characteristics, supporting forging, rolling, and argon arc welding processing. The recommended heat treatment standard is oil cold quenching at 950-1050℃ followed by tempering at 275-350℃ to ensure uniform microstructure and stable performance. Its comprehensive performance balances the requirements of mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, and is widely used in the fields of medical devices, precision transmission shafts, and energy equipment, becoming the preferred solution for industrial key materials.
