SS400 mild steel plate and so on carbon steel exports of Japan fell 23.2% month on month in April

According to data released by Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF) on May 29, the export volume of SS400 mild steel plate and so on ordinary carbon steel in Japan fell 23.2% in April from March to about 1.79 million tons.

An official of JISF said on Monday that the export volume reflected in the statistics in April this year actually began to shrink before the outbreak of the new crown. Therefore, he believed that the main driving factor for the decline of SS400 mild steel plate and so on steel export in April was still the global economic slowdown, and the negative impact of the new crown on exports was not fully reflected.

Japan's exports of SS400 mild steel plate and so on carbon steel products rose 0.7% year on year in April. Of all the export products in April, the export volume of hot rolled steel coil was the largest, 934948 tons, down 19.9% from March, but up 10.5% year-on-year, the 13th consecutive month on month growth. JISF officials explained that there is a reason for the habitual decline of steel exports in April. March is the financial settlement month of Japanese steel mills, so steel mills usually rush to export before the end of March. Therefore, the month on month decline of SS400 mild steel plate and so on steel exports in April is the result of the combined effect of seasonal factors and economic slowdown.
