SM490YB steel plate properties and application

Implementation standard of SM490YB steel plate: JIS G3106.
The standard, shape, quality and tolerance of SM490YB steel plate shall comply with JIS G3192, JIS G3193 and JIS G3194.

SM490YB steel plate belongs to low alloy high-strength steel with strength σb not less than 490MPa. It is generally used for the construction of buildings, bridges, ships, track vehicles, oil storage tanks, containers and other constructions requiring weldability.

SM490YB steel plate heat treatment:
SM490YB steel plates with thickness <80mm are hot-rolled;
SM490YB steel plate with thickness ≥80mm shall be normalized.

Mechanical properties of SM490YB steel plate:
Yield point（σs/MPa): ≥365
Tensile strength (σb/MPa): 490-610
Elongation (δ%): ≥19

Application scope of SM490YB steel plate: SM490YB is a structural steel produced according to the standard JIS G3106, with strength σb is 490MPa. This standard is applicable to bridges, ships, vehicles, oil storage tanks, manufacturing plants, general construction and all kinds of engineering machinery, such as drilling machines, shovels, electric wheel dumpers, mining cars, excavators, loaders, bulldozers, cranes, coal mine hydraulic supports and other mechanical equipment and other structural parts used in mining and various engineering construction.
