The manufacture of SA516 Gr485 (HIC) steel can be made by basic oxygen blown converter or electric furnace steelmaking process and additional secondary refining and vacuum degassing (oxygen content not more than 0.0020%) is required in the ladle metallurgical furnace. The SA516 Gr485 (HIC) steel plate shall be fully killed and shall meet the fine austenite grain size requirements of ASME Code Volume II (2017 Edition) Standard SA20/SA20M.
