Principle of strength check for vertical storage tank

The strength check of vertical storage tank refers to the ability of steel plate material of vertical storage tank to resist elastic deformation after welding. Especially when the design parameters are inconsistent with the actual situation or the material or nominal thickness is unknown, the strength check must be carried out.

The principle of strength check for vertical storage tank is as follows:
1. If the strength design standard has been specified in the original design, the strength can be checked according to the standard.
2. If the original design does not indicate the strength design standard or there is no strength calculation, it can be carried out according to the relevant standards at that time in principle.
3. If it is designed according to foreign codes, the strength check shall be conducted according to the original design codes in principle.

4. If the design specifications are not clear, the corresponding specifications can be referred to.
5. The remaining wall thickness is taken as the wall thickness for strength check by subtracting the corrosion amount to the next inspection cycle from the measured minimum value.
6. The liquid level used for checking shall not be less than the actual maximum working liquid level of atmospheric storage tank.
7. The strength check shall be carried out by the inspection institution or a qualified design unit.
