Is Q235B, A53 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B steel OK to replace each other

As is known, Q235B, A53 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B steel has similar performace for some purpose. But that does not mean they can be used to replace each other in all conditions.

When API 5L Gr.B steel is replaced by Q235B steel, there may be following problems:
1) the contents of Mn, P and S in chemical components of Q235B steel may exceed the standard of API 5L Gr.B steel. The content of P and S in Q235B steel is most likely to exceed the standard of API 5L Gr.B steel. The contents of other elements of Q235B steel meet the standard requirements of API 5L Gr.B steel under normal conditions.

2) the tensile strength of Q235B steel mechanical properties may not meet the standard requirements of API 5L Gr.B steel. The yield strength of Q235B steel meets the standard requirements of API 5L Gr.B steel normally.

3) The wall thickness is less than 7.5mm, the elongation of Q235B steel meets the standard requirements of API 5L Gr.B steel. The wall thickness is more than 7.5mm, the Q235B steel elongation may not meet the standard requirements of API 5L Gr.B steel.

When A53 Gr.B steel is replaced by Q235B steel, there may be following problems:
1) the contents of Mn and P in chemical components of Q235B steel may exceed the standard of A53 Gr.B steel. The contents of other elements of Q235B steel meet the standard requirements of A53 Gr.B steel under normal conditions.

2) the tensile strength of Q235B steel mechanical properties may not meet the standard requirements of A53 Gr.B steel. The yield strength of Q235B steel meets the standard requirements of A53 Gr.B steel normally.

3) The wall thickness is less than 7.3 mm, the elongation of Q235B steel meets the standard requirements of A53 Gr.B steel. The wall thickness is more than 7.3mm, the Q235B steel elongation may not meet the standard requirements of A53 Gr.B steel.
