EN 10025-4 standard designs the technical condition for thermomechanical rolled weldable fine grain structural steels. EN 10025-4 S275M grade is available in plate, strip, round bar and flat bars.

Grades and Quality:
S is short for Structural Steel.
275 means the minimum yield strength values for thickness ≤ 16mm expressed in MPa.
M indicates the steel grade is specified minimum values of impact energy at the temperatures not lower than -20°C.

EN 10025-4 S275M Steel Plate Application Field:
EN 10025-4 S275M steel plate is especially intended for service in heavily loaded parts of welded structures such as bridges, flood gates, storage tanks, water supply tanks for service at ambient and low temperatures.
Welding:
S275M steel is suitable for welding. However, with increasing steel thickness and strength level cold cracking can occur. Cold cracking is caused by the factors in combination:
1. The amount of diffusible hydrogen in the weld metal
2. A brittle structure of the heat affected zone
3. Significant tensile stress concertrations in the welded joint.
Cold Formability:
Cold forming leads to reduction in the ductility. Furthermore, it is necessary to draw the attention to the risk of brittle facture in connection with hot-dip zinc coating.
