Delamination Damage of SAME SA285GrC vessel plates

Delamination is a congenital defects in steel plate. It is born during the steel rolling process. As the ingot has bubbles, non metallic inclusions, or the ingot folding, or plate cutting edge without completely resecting the original residual shrinkage of ingot head. Some SAME SA285GrC vessel plates delamination are closed inside the SA285 Grade C steel plates and become closure defect, and some extend to the SA285Gr.C steel plate surface and become open defects.

SAME SA285GrC vessel plates delamination will do a lot of damage:

1.The existence of SAME SA285 Grade C steel plates delamination reduces the effective thickness and especially the bending resistance of the SA285GrC vessel plate at the lamination.

2.The edge of SAME SA285 Grade C vessel plates delamination forms sharp shape, which is very sensitive to force action. It will cause stress concentration. Especially when under alternating load, it will result in alternating stress in the stress concentration area, resulting in stress fatigue.

3.From the point of view of SAME SA285GrC pressure vessel application, for some special media, such as L.P.G etc. Hydrogen medium, the delamination defect is the basic factor that causes dangerous defects such as SAME SA285GrC vessel plates bulging and crack.
