Composition and properties of ASTM A387 grade 12 class 1 CrMo alloy steel

ASTM A387 grade 12 class 1 is a kind of CrMo alloy steel for vessel plate. It has good low temperature impact performance and comprehensive performance. With the development of petrochemical industry, ASTM A387 grade 12 class 1 CrMo alloy steel plate is widely used for petrochemical equipment. A387 gr 12 cl 1 steel is mostly delivered in normalized and tempered condition.

Ni: ≤ 0.030, Cu: ≤ 0.030, Sulfur S: ≤ 0.035, Phosphorus P: ≤ 0.035

Tensile strength (σb / MPA): ≥ 1180
Yield point (σs / MPA): ≥ 885
Elongation after fracture (δ5 /%): ≥ 10
Reduction of area (ψ/%): ≥ 45
Impact absorption energy (Aku2 / J): ≥ 55
Brinell hardness (annealed or tempered): ≤ 21

Main characteristics of ASTM A387 grade 12 class 1 steel:
Carburize heat treatment first, then quenching heating temperature 850℃, oil cooling; 200℃ tempering, air cooling. After quenching and tempering at low temperature, A387 gr 12 cl 1 plate can have good comprehensive mechanical properties and low temperature impact toughness; after carburizing and quenching, A387 gr 12 cl 1 steel has higher bending strength and wear resistance.
