Basic information of S355J0W weathering steel:
Product Name: Improved atmospheric corrosion resistant structural steel
Executive standard: EN10025-5
Delivery Condition: Hot Rolled, Normalized or Normalized Rolled
The naming of S355J0W weathering steel:
Steel grade S355 is subdivided into grades W and WP, in terms of carbon and phosphorus pair content.
The letter W: indicates that the steel is improved atmospheric corrosion resistance; the improved atmospheric corrosion resistance structural steel is also called weathering steel.
The letters WP:P are used for the higher phosphorus content classification (only when the steel grade is S355).
The impact energy of steel grade S355 grade WP is only checked when ordering.
Chemical composition of S355J0W weathering steel (wt%):
C≤0.16, Si≤0.5, Mn 0.5 - 1.5, P≤0.03, S≤0.025, Ni≤0.65, Cr 0.4 - 0.8, Mo≤0.3, Cu 0.25 - 0.55, N≤0.010, Zr≤0.15, Ceq Max≤ 0.52
Ingredient Note: For every 0.005 decrease in the maximum P, the maximum N is allowed to increase by 0.001, up to a maximum of 0.012.
The mechanical properties of S355J0W weathering steel:
Yield strength Rm(MPa)≥335
Tensile strength Rm (MPa) 470-630
Elongation A5(%)≥20
Shock temperature (℃) 0
Impact energy Aku(J)≥27
Hardness HB 156-241
Weldability of S355J0W weathering steel:
If using wire without improved atmospheric corrosion resistance ensure that the weld is weather resistant. Before soldering, any surface layers that have been aligned should be removed by a space of 10-20mm at the connection end. The specified precautions are to be taken when welding steel grades S355J0WP and S355J2WP with high phosphorus content.
