ASTM SA387 Grade 5 Class 2 Pressure vessel steel plate – a high quality chrome molybdenum alloy steel plate intended specifically for use in weldable carbon steel pressure vessels at elevated temperatures. A387 Gr 5 CL2 steel plate -added molybdenum gives the material greater temperature tensile strength and the chromium provides improved corrosion resistance.

Like other low alloy pressure vessel steels it is intended for use it pressure vessels and boilers where the temperature is high. ASTM A387 Grade 5 CL2 Pressure vessel steel plate is particularly suited to this application because of the chromium and molybdenum alloying elements.The Cr content 5.00% and the Mo content0.5%.Each grade except grade 21L, Grade 22L, Grade 91 and Grade 911 is available in two classes of tensile strength levels. Grade 91 and Grade 911 are available only as Class 2.
