API 2H Gr50 offshore platform steel

API 2H Gr50 is a steel used for offshore platforms, used to make ship hulls, offshore oil production platforms, platform pipe joints, and other structural components. Executive standards: CCS/DNV/ABS/GL/LR/BV/RINA/NK/KR.

API spec 2H - 2006 is an American Petroleum Institute standard for carbon manganese steel plates for marine structures. Level: 42, 50.

Silicon Si: 0.17-0.37%
Manganese Mn: 1.00-1.30%
Chromium Cr: 0.80-1.10%
Sulfur S: ≤0.035%
Phosphorus P: ≤0.035%

API 2H Gr50 steel plates subjected to heat treatment should have the suffix G printed, normalized steel plates should have the suffix N, quenched and tempered steel plates should have the suffix QT, and boron, vanadium, zirconium, cerium, and other rare earth metals should not be added without the consent of the purchaser. If any of the above elements are added to the steel plate, print C after H in the identification. The steel plate accepted according to the Z-thickness direction test procedure should be printed with Z after the grade.

API 2H Gr50 offshore platform steel is a high-performance carburized steel with high hardenability. After carburizing and quenching, it has a hard and wear-resistant surface and a tough core, with high low-temperature impact toughness, moderate weldability, and good machinability after normalizing. API 2H Gr50 steel is widely used for carburizing parts with small cross sections and high load quenched and tempered parts with large cross sections, such as gears, shafts, spindles, worms, sleeves for speed governors, friction wheels for speed changing devices, etc. It can also replace 20CrNi steel to make parts with small cross section size, medium pressure, and no large impact load.
