Volatilization is a characteristic of oil. Under normal temperature and pressure, as long as the oil is in contact with air, there will be signs of volatilization on the contact surface. Through scientific analysis and summary, there are several reasons for the volatilization of oil in oil storage tanks.
1. Natural ventilation loss
Lax tightness of oil storage tanks is the main reason for the loss of natural ventilation. This situation is usually caused by corrosion perforations on the top of the oil storage tank, or there is a height difference between the two holes. The density of the mixed gas in the oil tank is higher than that of the air, causing the mixed gas in the tank to be discharged into the atmosphere from the lower holes. The air flows into the tank from the high holes, causing natural ventilation loss.
2. Static storage loss
Static storage loss is also called "little breath" loss. It is the increase and decrease of the pressure in the tank due to the increase and decrease of the temperature in the oil storage tank, which causes the mixed oil and gas to be discharged out of the tank, and the outside air is sucked into the tank, causing oil consumption.
3. Loss of dynamic fluid level
Fluid level loss is also called "great breathing" loss. When the oil product is receiving and dispatching, the volume of the gas space in the tank changes, so that the mixed oil and gas are discharged out of the tank, and the outside air is sucked into the tank. The oil consumption is caused by the change of the liquid level.
