Vietnam's S355J2 material and so on steel imports decreased in the first half of the year

In the first six months of this year, Vietnam imported 6.8 million tons of S355J2 material and so on steel products, with a cumulative import volume of more than 4 billion US dollars, down 5.4% and 16.3% respectively compared with the same period last year.

According to the Vietnamese Steel Association recently, the main countries exporting S355J2 material and so on steel to Vietnam from January to June include China, Japan and South Korea.

According to the association's statistics, Vietnam imported nearly 1.3 million tons of S355J2 material and so on steel products in June alone, valued at $670 million, an increase of 20.4% and a decrease of 6.9% over the same period of last year.

According to the statistical data released by Vietnam National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019, Vietnam's S355J2 material and so on steel import amount was 9.5 billion US dollars, and the import volume reached 14.6 million tons, which was 4.2% lower and 7.6% higher than that in 2018; in the same period, the S355J2 material and so on steel export volume was 4.2 billion US dollars, and the export volume was 6.6 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 8.5% and an increase of 5.4%.
