17-4PH (UNS S17400) steel coil is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel metal. This alloy contains a strong combination of excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and hardness (upto 300 degrees C). The mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment. 17/4 PH should not be used at temperatures above 300 degrees C / 572 degs. F, or at very low temperatures. 17-4PH / 1.4542 martensitic stainless steel coil withstands corrosive attacks better than any of the standard hardenable stainless steels.
The martensitic alloy composes following ingredients in its fabrication:
Iron- In balanced form
Chromium- Between 15-17%
Nickel- Between 3-5%
Copper- Between 3-5%
Manganese- Up to 1.5% max
Silicon- Up to 0.7% max
Niobium- Up to 0.45% max
