It is mainly used to manufacture the hulls and decks of ocean-going, coastal and inland navigation ships. The ship's working environment is harsh, and the hull shell must withstand the chemical corrosion of seawater, electrochemical corrosion and the corrosion of sea creatures and microorganisms. It must also withstand the impact of large wind waves and alternating loads: coupled with the complexity of ship processing. Therefore, the requirements for marine steel used in hull structure are strict.

　　Good toughness is the most critical requirement. In addition, it must have high strength, good corrosion resistance, welding performance, processing performance and surface quality. The Mn/C ratio should be above 2.5, which also has strict requirements for carbon equivalent. Marine steel plate is produced by a steel plant approved by the ship inspection department. Steel for hull structure is divided into two types: general strength and high strength structural steel. The quality of general strength steel is divided into Grades A, B, C, and D. High strength steel is divided into two strength grades and 3 OS quality grades: AH32 , DH32, EH32, AH36, DH36, EH36., AH40, DH40 and EH40.
