Under specification ASTM ,there are two pressure vessel steel plate A299 Grade A and A299 Grade B .
A299/A299M,and the equal steel grades SA299 Grade A and sA299 Grade B accoring to standard ASME SA299/SA299M.This standard covers manganese silicon carbon steel plates A299GrA and A299 Grade B which are mainly used in welded boilers and other pressure vessels and tanks.
For pressure vessel steel plates A299 Grade A and A299 Grade B,steel plates for the thickness equal or belows 50 millimeter shall be supplied in the as_rolled delivery condition, except the end user indicate needing normalized or stress relieved when purchased.Steel plate over 50mm in thickness,the heat treatment have to be done as Normalized.
For steel plates of SA299 Grade A and A299 Grade B produced from coils and furnished without heat treatment or with stress relieving only,the additional requirements , including testing requirements and the reporting of additional test results shall be applied for A20/A20M.
Else,for steel plate A299 Grade A and A299 Grade B using in boiler and pressure vessels,our engineers suggest that all the plates to be done ultrasonic test and PWHT for improving steel properity and safety when using in high pressure situiations in yard.
