Bebon’s Duplex Stainless Steel Uses in Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge

HZMB is a long-span bridge that links Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. It is the longest sea bridge in the world with total length of 49.968 km. The total investment of the bridge project is 70 billion Yuan. The span for the waterways is 4100m; the service life of the bridge is 120 years; the bridge can withstand the earthquake of 8 magnitudes. After the completion of the bridge, it is the longest bridge with the largest investment and the most difficulties in construction in the history of China bridge construction. The 3462 ton of DSSR to be supplied by Bebon will be used to the bridge bearing platform, tower foundation and pier shaft. The DSSR are of good resistance to chlorine ion corrosion, high strength, light-weight, maintenance-free and long service life. This is the first time to use DSSR in the bridge construction in mainland China. In addition, Bebon will also supply deep processing service and 28932 sleeves for HZMB project.

During the planning phase of the bridge, Bebon involved in the HZMB project, made investigations on the applications of DSSR in the internationally known sea bridges and suggestions to the HZMB design department on using DSSR. After many technical exchanges and verifications, HZMB Authority and design department listed the DSSR in its design specifications. Since then, Bebon organizes a strong R & D team, makes many breakthroughs in key production processes and technologies by cooperating with domestic rebar connecting authorities and has the comprehensive production and service capability. In Sept. 2012, HZMB project team made site visits to the European famous stainless steel producers and Bebon, respectively. Bebon’s overall advantages and product quality are acknowledged. In Nov. 2012, Bebon’s DSSR passed the accreditation of UK CARES, became the only accredited DSSR producer in China. The successful bid also become another example that Bebon provides the package solutions for the large scale projects.
