EAF

EAF can directly make the steel scrap to steel, the production process by adding DRI and pig iron and other feed to be completed. 1/3 global steel are produce from EAF, the rest comes from the BOF.
EAF is a container used refractory as lined, and a scalable capping; through this capping, large graphite electrode has scrap charging, descending when the top of the stove shut. Usually the EAF's volume of each smelting is 60-150 tons, sometimes a little more; however, the volume of the EAF is generally smaller than the BOF. The arc between the electrodes and scrap released energy contributed to the melting. In general, there are three electrodes, but only one can suit for DC furnace.
To reduce to time of scrap charging to steel casting (smelting time), people makes a lot of effort. Currently, the standard method is to transfer the steel to a separate alloy blast furnace, to prepare the next charging. Scrap preheating and oxygen injection also increased productivity, reduce energy consumption.
