What is spring steel?
Spring steel can keep deforming in case the pressure, but will restore to its original state without pressure. Spring steel is a kind of medium carbon steel(Carbon content is 0.4-0.95%) and it is can be long products(bar and wire steel), also can be plate material. Important characteristics of this kind of steel is high pressure resistance and the key alloy component to decide the final performance is silicon and manganese.
But in practical application, the requirement for spring steel is different and the performance requirements of the car engine valve spring is most high-end. They must keep thousands of times per minute to function under compression in the thousands of hours service cycle of ordinary engine.
Most spring steel is produced by hardened?and?tempered?steel, but sometimes, in order to reduce manufacturing difficulty, larger spring may be produced by annealing steel and doing hardening treatment after production.
